Maurene Wilson, Member of the Institute of Fundraising, is a highly experienced project manager for £million fundraising campaigns.
About Maurene
While working at Tewkesbury Abbey in 1993, Maurene assisted a £2m campaign that was being managed by Compton Fundraising Consultants. Having seen how a large scale fundraising project works, she wanted to use her considerable project management and administrative skills to benefit other organisations which needed to raise capital sums.
After a successful first campaign with Compton at St George’s School, Windsor Castle, Maurene went to Peterborough Cathedral to undertake management of the £7.3 million Campaign for restoration and development projects in and around the Cathedral building. At Peterborough Cathedral, Maurene worked alongside Michael Bunker who was then Dean of Peterborough to achieve the substantial target in four years.
Further campaigns followed at the University of Sunderland (£5m of a £10m Campaign for a new School of Arts, Design and Media) and St Alban’s Church, Birmingham for a new roof.
In 2001, Maurene returned to Peterborough Cathedral to establish a membership organisation, The Company of St Peter, to raise funds for regular maintenance projects. The Company has now raised over £2 million.
In November 2001, following the fire in the Cathedral, Maurene was instrumental in setting up the Emergency Appeal which raised a further £1.25 million.
Maurene has also managed a number of campaigns on behalf of Compton Fundraising to raise money for:
- St Felix School, Southwold
- Lichfield Cathedral
- University of East Anglia
- John Radcliffe Hospital
- The Pepys House Trust
