The Very Reverend Michael Bunker has first hand experience of managing a £million fundraising campaign, and an emergency appeal to share
The Very Reverend Michael Bunkers major fundraising achievement was during his ministry as Dean of Peterborough. It was also at Peterborough, during the intensive fundraising campaign to raise £7.3 million, that Michael formed a working partnership with Maurene Wilson. She was working with Compton Fundraising Consultants who were retained by the Cathedral to manage their Campaign.
After a significant ministry at St James Church, Muswell Hill Michael became Dean of Peterborough and faced a huge challenge. It involved rejuvenating their Trust, creating an effective fundraising team and raising £7.3 million. This was achieved and celebrated in January 2001. In November 2001 a devastating fire damaged the Cathedral. An Emergency Appeal was launched and a further £1.25 million was raised.
It isnt surprising that many Cathedrals have been interested in hearing about Michaels experience in fundraising. It became clear that it wasnt just advice that Cathedrals needed. It was also professional hands on support. So 2M Fundraising was formed by Maurene and Michael to provide this support.
The combination of Maurenes very practical skills in managing a fundraising campaign and Michaels experience the other side of the desk makes 2M an effective fundraising team.
With the experience gained from working as both a fundraising consultant and in-house for a number of charities, Maurene has a broad range of experience and knows exactly what needs to be done to reach ambitious fundraising targets.
